Chelsea FC are reportedly close to completing the signature of Emerson Palmieri from AS Roma. The left back is expected to join the club this January before the window closes. The Blues want a double player deal with Roma for the signature of Emerson and striker Edin Dzeko.

Sky Sports claim the talks for Emerson are advanced, with the 23-year old pleased with the terms of the deal. The Serie A club just needs to give their approval for the move to Stamford Bridge to go through.

Dzeko’s agent is expected in London in the next few hours to wrap up the deal for Dzeko to become the new backup striker. Alvaro Morata would remain the top choice while the former Manchester City man would assist him or play in a double strike partnership. Reports say talks for Dzeko are still far from conclusion as Roma want £44 million in transfer fees and £8.8 million in bonus payments for both stars. According to Livescore Chelsea, the club are Evens to sign both of them before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.

Chelsea are now trying to find a way around the deal by offering Michy Batshuayi to Roma on a loan deal. The Belgian wants game time to be eligible for selection ahead of Russia 2018. The Blues are thinking if they should spend so much to land the 31-year old Dzeko. He had a slow start but then picked up in the Serie A. He is still going strong this term but Chelsea are thinking of his long term impact.

Roma initially wanted a total package of £57.2 million for the pair but they seem to have softened to £52.8 million. Chelsea turned to Dzeko, a proven goalscorer, after the move for Andy Carroll broke down. The West Ham striker is injury prone and he picked up an injury amid talks about a move to Chelsea.

Chelsea have also been linked with Ashley Barnes, Peter Crouch, Fernando Llorente and recently Marko Arnautovic.
