It has been revealed that Chelsea may face up to £ 15 million bill if they are looking to lure José Mourinho from Real Madrid. José Mourinho is currently the manager of Real Madrid after having moved from Inter Milan a few seasons ago.
Compared with the other clubs during his career, José Mourinho has had a lonely spell at Real Madrid where he has also experienced limited success. Hence, there have been suggestions that he would be willing to move to the English Premier league with his former club Chelsea in the summer. He was recently spotted house hunting in London near Chelsea.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has so far spent around £ 90 million in hiring and firing the seven managers during his time at Chelsea. Hence, it is expected that the £ 15 million bill for José Mourinho is not expected to be a major problem for the Russian billionaire. There have also been suggestions that Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola remains as the first choice for Roman Abramovich. The Barcelona manager is currently out of contract at the end of the season, and there has been intense speculation that this would be his last season at Barcelona.
“Pep will stay for sure because this is his home and the club is his family. Why would he want to leave?” Barcelona midfielder Seydou Keita said during the weekend when asked about the future of Guardiola.
Others currently interested in the vacant Chelsea managerial position include the likes of former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez who, according to the up to date Premier League betting odds, remains the favourite after José Mourinho and Guardiola.
Chelsea are left searching for their eighth manager in as many seasons after Andre Villas-Boas was sacked recently. The 1-0 defeat suffered at the hands of West Brom during the weekend was the last match in charge for Andre Villas-Boas.
