Former Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has said that the confidence that Chelsea is one of the main reason for the poor form right now. Chelsea lost their latest match against Napoli in the last 16 of the Champions League. It has meant that they are on the brink of going out of the Champions League once again, but the most crucially under manager Andre Villas-Boas. Andre Villas-Boas is the man under pressure right now after having overseen a winless run that is continuing for more than a month. Blues legend Gianfranco Zola, who was once linked with the managerial role at Chelsea, has said that Chelsea do need to find the lost confidence in order to recover from the poor form.
Chelsea took the lead against Napoli after Daniel Sturridge found Mata with precision. Despite taking the lead in the match, Chelsea could not hold their advantage after they conceded two goals in the first half itself to go behind in the match. Even more depressing was the fact that they consider the third goal in the second half, which has put the chances of progressing into the quarter-finals extremely low. Despite this, Gianfranco Zola has said that he is convinced that Andre Villas-Boas is the man for Chelsea right now.
“John Terry is such a big asset for them – confidence, personality is something you can’t buy easily. But I think Chelsea has to be stronger than that. We are talking about a team that can really dominate – even in the Premier League. I think they will have to analyse what is going on and try to sort it out quickly especially as psychologically they are a little bit too fragile at the moment,” reflected Zola. Chelsea are currently in the fourth position in the table behind Arsenal and Tottenham.
